History

The Indian Society of Agricultural Engineers, established in 1960 under the Chairmanship of Shri D. A. Gadkary, is a scientific institution of professional agricultural engineers in India and abroad. It is a Body registered under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860 (Regd. No. 4027 as overleaf).

The Society is devoted to the cause of application of engineering to the advancement of agriculture through Modern technology. Engineering, in the early stages, was considered to be an urbanized profession. It was not common for engineer to opt to join the department of agriculture. Nor would he, for self-employment, take the production and marketing of agro-machinery easily. The picture is fast changing and is different today, although much still needs to be done.

The Indian Society of Agricultural Engineers was established in 1960. Agricultural Engineering, involves the application of engineering to production, processing, preservation and handling of food, feed and fiber. It also includes the transfer of engineering technology for the development and welfare of rural areas and masses.
